REVIEW | MAKEUP REVOLUTION LIPSTICKS

We have all heard about Makeup Revolution and if you haven't then its time you did check them out because they do have some amazing products that are very affordable. Today I am going to share with you two of their lipsticks in the shade Reckless and Fusion. I got them down from the UK by a friends and they cost £1 each and can be bought from Superdrug but if you do live in Hong Kong you can buy them from Hakme Beauty.

Let me start with the packaging, as you can see its nothing too fancy and comes in a plastic tube package. I mean you did get them for £1 so you cant expect an expensive looking packaging. These shades were the two that caught my eye when I was browsing the Superdrug website. Lets get back to checking out them in more details.

Reckless is a bright red creamy lipstick. The colour payoff is amazing and actually quite moisturizing on the lips. The best part was that the lipstick didn't dry my lips out. The shades is actually quite a lovely red and I quite like it. I usually steer away from lipsticks that are that bright specially when it comes to red lipsticks, it can be quite over powering for my skin tone.

Fusion is supposed to be a deep plum coloured lipstick but as you can see from the pictures and swatches its a very dull and muted shade. The lipstick felt moisturizing on the lips and didn't dry them out but the colour payoff is really bad, it looked more like a tinted lip balm. The lipstick just kind of gave the lips a slight tint of colour.

The Makeup Revolution Amazing lipstick collection has 20 different shades and some are supposed to me matte and some are creamy. It claims to have amazing colour payoff but I don't think that most lipsticks are true to this claim. Reckless is a lovely shade and has good colour payoff but Fusion on the other hand doesn't have good colour payoff and doesn't really look like a plum shade. Wear time I would say is around 3-4 hours for me and I have to say that I did notice that significant bleeding of the lipstick around the corners of my lips but if I used a lip liner as a base then the lipsticks stayed put and lasted a bit longer, close to about 5 hours.

However, overall for the £1 your paying I think its a pretty darn good and with the help of a lip liner it will last longer, stay put. You will have to expect some of the lipsticks like Fusion to be not up to standard and lack colour payoff. A bit disappointed with my experience but then again I don't feel guilty because I didn't pay a lot. I doubt that I will be getting any from this brand but I am intrigued to try their eye shadow palettes.

Have you tried any of the Makeup Revolution lipsticks? Did you like them? Let me know what you think in the comment box below.

  1. Although the fusion doesn't stay true to its colour, I love the outcome. An alternate red when you don't want a bright red.

    1. Very true Wendee, more like a tinted lip balm

  2. Hi Nashia, Fusion is my absolute favourite and it looks great on you, giving you a mysterious pout without being too bold. Baci, Coco et La vie en rose fashion blog - Valeria Arizzi
