REVIEW | MAC STUDIO CAREBLEND PRESSED POWDER

Summer in Hong Kong can become very humid and hot and the last thing you want to do is wear cream or liquid foundations. You can only imagine right having oily skin how my skin would be in a few hours if I wear a foundation, yes you were right, it becomes an oily mess. The humidity makes my face sticky and the makeup tends to melt and when you try to wipe it or even pat your face the makeup comes off and I am left with patches so I prefer pressed powders or powder foundations. I have two of my favourite pressed powder foundations which you can find HERE and HERE.

I bought mine from a MAC counter here in Hong Kong and it cost around HK$200 and I bought the shade Dark Deep which is the darkest shade they have here in Hong Kong. Luckily it matched my skin tone as it can be very difficult to find darker shades here in Hong Kong.

The packaging is actually very light and the perfect powder for on the go as its a pressed powder so there wont be any powder every where your makeup pouch. It comes with a mirror so its easy to touch up on the go. There is a powder puff that comes with it but I never use it and prefer using a large powder brush as you get an even application. The texture of the powder is smooth and has a satin feel to it. The other thing is that powder doesn't have that awful powdery feeling and once applied feels very light on the complexion and very natural.

I usually prep my complexion and apply my concealer and then set the powder using the Ben Nye Neutral Set or my Kryolan Face Powder in TL5 and then use the MAC careblend all over my face and neck with my powder brush. I swirl the brush once in the powder and do about two rounds so that the coverage is in between medium and heavy. Some times I just do one round as that's more than enough if I am going out during the day as its much hotter during the day but if I am going out in the night I prefer a bit more coverage.

My complexion always looks smooth and the powder gives a matte finish. My skin pigmentation gets well covered up as well and to be honest my skin tone looks really glowing and I love that. The matte finish lasts around 4 hours but depends if I am outdoors or indoors. Indoors it lasts a bit longer but if I am outside a lot then maybe 3 hours the most before my face becomes oily and sticky due to the humidity.

 MAC STUDIO CAREBLEND PRESSED POWDER

This powder has been my go to powder for the last month and I love it. The light texture and natural feel of it makes it the perfect foundation for the summer time here in Hong Kong to combat the humidity. Gives a medium coverage that is buildable and so you don't have to worry about dark circles or scars. Last around 4 hours depending on your skin type and the weather on that particular day. I think you definitely need to give this ago if you prefer lighter bases in the summer. It will give you a matte finish so you oily skin girls like me definitely try this out.

What is your go to base for the summer? Is it a powder or liquid? Let me know what you think in the comment box below if you have used the MAC Studio careblend Pressed Powder?
