I bought it from a MAC counter here in Hong Kong and can be found all over the country and it cost me HK$285 which is a bit steep for a powder but I love MAC powders and they are my weakness and I caved and bought it.
MAC MINERALIZE SKIN FINISH
The packaging is new and actually looks very sleek perfect for on the go and for travelling. It has a mirror as well which is perfect for touch ups through out the day. The texture of the powder is smooth and soft and has a satin feel to it. The powder is a bit more powdery and does gather around the edges of the pan when you swirl your brush in it so be a bit careful of your wearing light coloured clothes. There can be a bit of fall off when applying it. I usually use a big powder brush with this powder so that its easy to apply it all over the face.
The coverage is more on the full coverage side and is a bit heavier than a few other pressed powders I have used. That doesnt make it uncomfortable to wear or that it feels heavy on the complexion. One swirl in the powder is more than enough to get a good full coverage. I apply my concealer before I use this powder, that way I get rid of my dark circles as well and the makeup has a flawless finish. Even without concealer I did notice that my dark circles weren't that noticeable, quite good for a pressed powder.
My makeup look had a matte finish and my complexion looked smooth and evened out. Skin imperfections are invisible. I also use this powder to set my foundation or BB creams because it gives a matte finish. The wear time of this powder was much less than most powders I have used, after about 3 hours my skin looked shiny and started becoming oily if worn alone and if I used it to set my foundation then it lasted about 4 hours.
During summer I have noticed that when ever I use this my skin becomes quite oily and I think that it because its a mineral based powder. however in the winter the wear time lasted much longer and I was able to get about 5 hours of wear time before I saw any shine. I prefer to wear this during colder months and this my least reached pressed powder in the summer.
I would say if you have oily skin then you should try to avoid this but it will be better during the winter. This is ideal I think for Normal to Dry skin as it will lasts longer as mineral based makeup isn't very suitable for oily skin. However it is a good powder with good coverage and if you are thinking of giving this a try then do try it out in the winter time, you will get much better use out of it.
