I  was never someone who used a makeup sponge to apply makeup as makeup sponges absorb a lot of product that is being used. It wasn't until I started training to become a makeup artist that I was taught how to use one and had to practice using one. This made me want to try different types of makeup sponges and see if it really did make a difference. I know a lot of you have tried the famous Beauty Blender but I have not yet tried it at the moment as it is quite expensive here in Hong Kong, so I am waiting to buy one when I go to the USA for holiday. I did try the Shu Uemura Makeup Sponges and loved them but I needed to try a few different ones. I was browsing through Forever 21 and saw they had a few different makeup sponges so I bought a few to try out. I bought the Contoured Makeup Blender Sponge  and its cost HK$30 and the Mini Makeup Sponges cost HK$ 20 if I remember correctly.

The purple one is called the Contoured Makeup Blender Sponge and the rest are from the Mini Makeup Sponge Collection. I used the purple sponge as it is the biggest one to apply foundation as well as concealer. I use the mini sponges to apply concealer only.

Contoured Makeup Blender Sponge

This sponge is absolutely soft and very light. I use the pointed edge to blend out my concealer and the bottom part to apply my foundation. I did notice that a lot of product does get absorbed into the sponge so now I use it only for concealer. The pointed end fits perfectly under the eye area and around the nose and the corners of the mouth. I love how the concealer blends seamlessly and it has a medium coverage that is buildable.

Mini Makeup Sponge Collection

The mini sponges are not as soft as the contoured makeup sponge and are a bit more harder. They don't hurt the skin even though they are harder. I use these ones to blend concealer as well. They are perfect to blend concealer sticks. The liquid concealer gets absorbed into the sponge more than the stick concealers. All of the sponges fit really nicely under the eyes and they are even perfect for spot concealing.

Overall they are lovely inexpensive makeup sponges and I have been reaching for them quite frequently. My favourite the purple contoured makeup sponge. Your concealer will be blended very easily and seamlessly. I definitely recommend these sponges and I suggest you use them to apply and blend concealer. Applying foundation wasn't that great as lots of the product was being absorbed.

Do you use makeup sponges with your makeup? Have you tried any of the Forever 21 makeup sponges? Let me know what you think in the comment box below.
