A CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE FOR THE SPA GLOVE
The glove isn't very big as you can see from the pictures and will fit most hand sizes I presume. It has textures on the front and back that helps to clean the makeup brushes with ease. I bought it from Ikea, here in Hong Kong for HK$39.90 which is so much cheaper.
I have not yet tried the Sigma Spa Glove and I had been sceptical about it because of the price tag it came with and I have been on the look out for something a bit cheaper and that will also give my makeup brushes a good deep cleaning. It can be difficult to get the makeup brushes properly cleaned with just your hand and fingers.
I usually wear the glove and hold my hand under a running tap and then take a brush and swirl it around the textured area first to give it the initial wash and then use my Johnson's & Johnson's baby shampoo to give them a good deep clean. I have done a post about what I use to clean my makeup brushes HERE that you can read if you like. You can either put a drop of the shampoo onto the glove or the brush, but I prefer to put it onto the glove because that way the shampoo cant seep into the brush head and damage the glue.
One of the brushes that I couldn't really give a good deep cleaning using my hand and fingers was the Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush. No matter what I did there would be a bit of makeup remaining and it was so frustrating. That was only until I started using the Ikea oven glove. The kabuki brush for the first time since I bought it was makeup free when I used deep cleaned it with the help of the Ikea oven glove. All my makeup brushes looked much cleaner and they didn't get damaged or neither did the shape go off. The textures on the glove really helped to get rid of all the makeup stuck right inside without damaging the brush and much effort I must say. I also noticed that when using this glove that water wasn't getting into the head of the brush, which means the glue wont be damaged. This way your makeup brushes will last much longer.
On the down side the only this is that your hand can tend to hurt a bit if you have a lot of brushes to wash. Also the thumb position kind of makes it hard to use the textured area on the palm because you have to lift the thumb to get all the space, which results in your thumb and hand hurting. I think it is tolerable because it isn't very expensive and it isn't like it takes hours on end to wash your brushes so don't worry too much about the hand hurting. I can guarantee that it will give your makeup brushes a good deep clean. It isn't like it takes hours on end to wash your brushes so don't worry too much about the hand hurting.
A cheaper alternative that works well enough and doesn't damage your makeup brushes or misshape them in the process of cleaning them. I cant say if it is better than the Sigma Spa Glove but I am sure it may come close to it. So if the Sigma Glove is a bit out of your range then you should definitely give this a try. Cleaning my makeup brushes has become so much easier and fast after I started using this Ikea oven glove, so give it ago.
