5 DIFFERENT USES FROM VASELINE

5 Different Uses From Vaseline

Everyone uses Vaseline and has different uses for them, which means you might pick up a new trick or two that you weren't familiar with. When petroleum jelly first surfaced it was mainly used for healing purposes but soon was incorporated with cosmetics as well. Petroleum jelly is the main ingredient in Vaseline and it  has many different uses other than for just using to cure chapped lips. I thought I will share how I normally use Vaseline on a regular basis so that some of you might pick up a new trick or two. I bought my Vaseline from Bonjour for HK23 but you can get it from any beauty store or pharmacy.

5 DIFFERENT USES FROM VASELINE

5 Different Uses From Vaseline

1. Chapped Lips: The obvious one is using to cure chapped lips, that's what we all know and mainly use it for. It instantly coats the lips and in a short period cures the lips. It also acts as a good base to apply your lip products and keep the lips hydrated as some lip products can drastically dry the lips out.

2. Dry Feet: When I was a flight stewardess I would constantly suffer from dry feet as the aircraft is very dry and that causes you to get dehydrated. that's why they say drink a lot of water while on board. I would mix a bit Vaseline with my foot cream and then apply it and massage the product on to my feet. This was the skin stayed hydrated throughout the flight and my feet stopped drying out the itching stopped. Alternatively you could apply Vaseline to your feet before you sleep and wear sock and use it as a foot mask as well if you suffer from dry/cracked feet. The next morning you sure will have softer feet for sure. You use it on your hands as well in the same manner but use a cotton hand glove and it will give the same results. Soft smoother hands.

3. Burns: Another good trick is to use it on burns. If by accident you get burned by your curling iron or hair straightener or for that matter while cooking apply a little bit of Vaseline on the burnt area after holding it under running cold water and it will soothe the burning sensation. I also noticed that it healed much faster and that the scar wasn't that visible. You can mainly use it on small burns like I mentioned so be careful.

4. Curled Lashes: I learnt this trick recently, where once you have curled your lashes using your favourite lash curler (mine is Shu Uemura and you can read my review HERE) you dab a small amount on to your index finger and apply it on to your lashes as if your setting them in place. This works like the way a primer would work and keep the lashes curled for much longer and helps to keep their shape as well.

5. Nails: This trick I have seen at many salon when you get a manicure and pedicure, where some use Vaseline to soften the cuticles so it becomes easier to push them back. I do this when I give myself a manicure. This way the skin around the nail bed doesn't get damaged and nor does it hurt. The manicure becomes that much easier. Another trick is to apply to around your nail-bed before applying the nail polish, this way in case you get any on your skin its easy to clean up as the Vaseline acts as a barrier and prevents it from getting hard on the skin. Apply nail polish neatly like your manicurist would becomes easy. Practice makes perfect. You do need to wait until the nail polish has dried to clean up around the nails, you don't want to end up with smudged nails.

These are my little tricks to get the maximum out of Vaseline without just using for chapped lips. I love using it on my curled lashes and that is what I use for now the most.

Do you use Vaseline at all? I'm sure you have different ways of using Vaseline I would love to hear about it.
