REVIEW | KATE SOMERVILLE EYE CREAM

I am one who never used to apply eye cream even though I have been reading blogs and blog posts related to them. For some reason I never thought I needed one and probably was lazy to be honest. The skin around and under the eye area is one of the most sensitive and one of the fastest to show signs of ageing so we do need to take care of it with extra care. This is where the specialty of eye creams come in. You need to figure out what you want your eye cream to tackle, whether its dark circles, pigmentation or signs of aging, either way there are options for so many concerns.

I won a giveaway from Sassy Hong Kong and was lucky enough to have a skincare consultation with Kate Somerville in Hong Kong. Once the consultation was done I was given a lovely goody bag and in that was the Age Arrest Eye Cream. To be honest I haven't notice significant signs of ageing around my eye but it doesn't hurt to start early. So I put this cream to the test and I usually apply this eye cream in the night.

KATE SOMERVILLE AGE ARREST EYE CREAM

There are Kate Somerville counters in Hong Kong is you want to purchase any of the products. The Age Arrest Eye Cream retails for HK$685 and is a bit on the pricier side. It is well worth the investment specially if you are seeing signs of ageing around the eye.

The packaging is actually very pretty and handy for travelling. I actually took this with me when I was on holiday in December. There is a little scoop that comes with it so that taking the eye cream out is easy and you wont be adding germs and contaminating the cream with your fingers.

The eye cream itself isn't too thick or too light but just the right consistency. It has a slight cream colour to it but once applied it isn't visible. It doesn't leave an oily residue behind after applied but it does take a little bit of time to get fully absorbed. That didn't bother me at all. There is a slight fragrance to it but not too over powering at all. Its nice to take time with your skincare regime and pamper your self a bit in the morning if you have time. As I use it in the night waiting a bit till it gets absorbed isn't as issue. You need a small amount for both eyes like the size of a pea and with the help of your ring finger gently dab it around and massage it in. It did sting my eyes a bit so be careful not to get in the eye, however my eyes didn't react or turn red I just used a cotton pad to wipe the eye.

What I did notice after using this for about a week or so was that the skin around my eye looked much tighter and firmer than before and to be honest I never noticed any wrinkle (phew) and even then there was a difference. The claims about tackling dark circles weren't really visible with me as I did not notice a difference with my dark circles. This could just be me and for someone else completely the opposite. I was pleasantly surprised by the difference to my skin after using this cream and I continue to use it everyday in the night. This was the first time I have used an anti ageing eye cream so it was a big deal and I must I was quite take up by this cream.

I am hoping it will slow down the signs of ageing around my eye but at the moment once I run out I doubt I will repurchase this just because of the price but I highly recommend this if you do think you see signs of ageing.

Have you tried any skincare products from Kate Somerville? What did you think?
