MY BROW ROUTINE

Filling my brows have become an extension of me that I never leave (try to) the house without doing them up. It makes such a big difference to my face because I have very thin and uneven brows. So I thought I will share how I maintain and fill my brows and what products I use to achieve descent looking brows.

Brows are the most neglected part in our beauty routine, that maybe due to the fact that some of you may not know exactly how to fill in your brows and what to do exactly. Filling your eye brows is important because brows frame the shape of your face and it gives an extra touch to your finished look. The most important thing to remember when filling in and shaping your brows is not to over do it so it doesn't look fake or over done.

HOW TO FILL BROWS

When choosing a colour to fill in your brows remember to choose a colour as close to your natural brow colour or if your brows are lighter than your hair colour then you add depth to it by choosing a colour close to your natural hair colour. NEVER EVER CHOOSE BLACK, that will only make the brows look fake. As an alternative colour you could choose a very deep/dark brown colour which will be more complimentary.

When filling your brows always start at the centre of your brow using upward light strokes along the edges of your brow as if you are filling in a colouring book. You need to stay with in your brow lines. All your going to be doing to your brows is enhancing the shape and filling in the gaps. This way your brows will look as if you have naturally full brows.

These are the two products that I have been swearing by to make my brows decent looking and to give it some shape.

MAC BROW PENCIL

I first start by filling my brows with a brow pencil. I prefer a pencil rather than powder because my skin is oily and the powder doesn't last as long as a pencil on my brows. The brow pencil that I have is Spike, it is a dark brown colour. As my brows are black the closest I can get to match it is with a dark brown and spike is the perfect colour for me. The pencil is a twist up kind of pencil so you can choose the amount the tip comes out from the casing. I use very light strokes starting from the centre of my brows using an upward stroke to fill in the gaps and even out my brows and give it a proper shape. once I have filled my brows I use a small brow spoolie to brush out the harsh lines and even out the brows so they look natural. The packaging is very basic as you can tell, nothing much to complain about. It is light and thin which is good to travel with and I have this in my handbag with me all the time. You can buy the MAC Brow Pencil from any MAC outlet in Hong Kong and it cost 185HK$. You do need to be careful with this pencil as the tip tends to break a bit so when you twist it up to get the tip out don't take a lot out but instead take bit by bit. This way you don't waste the product as well.

The spoolie I use is small and even has a small comb just in case you need it to comb out the brows. It is very travel friendly and can easily be taken in a small pouch as it doesn't take up a lot of space. The spoolie is available at any local sasa and Bonjour outlets in Hong Kong. It cost me just 14HK$ which isn't expensive at all and works as well as any high end branded product.

MAC PRO LONGWEAR WATERPROOF BROW SET

Once I have filled my brows with the pencil and got a good shape I then use the Mac Brow Gel in Brown Ebony to set them in place. The brow gel isn't too thick and doesn't make the brows really stiff once applied. The colour is pigmented enough that I can use it without filling my brows with the pencil. Which I like because if I am in a hurry I can quickly comb my brows with gel and it looks good. The gel doesn't harden over time as well which is good because you can use it till its finished. The brush is also just the right size that it fits the brows perfectly but you do need to be careful as sometimes it can get on the skin where the brow is a bit thinner. You can buy the brow gel at any MAC outlet in Hong Kong and I cant remember exactly how much it cost but if I am not mistaken it cost  around 250HK$.

So there you have my routine for my brows. I started realizing how different I look after my brows were being filled only after I started learning to be a MUA when we had to practice filling brows on ourselves and on each other. It makes the face have more character and completes a look immensely.

How do you fill your brows and do you have any products that you swear by? Let me know I would be interested to know.
