FOTD | DRAMATIC SMOKEY EYE

Dramatic and I are far from each other but once in awhile I do have my moments and we connect and a lovely makeup look is created in the process. This week dramatic and I both connected and I created a lovely smokey eye and I was quite happy how it turned out and decided to share it. So this week I have a dramatic smokey eye as my FOTD.

CLARINS BEAUTY FLASH BALM

I am a long time fan of Clarins and their skincare products, they are wonderful. I swear by their Milk Cleanser it always helps my skin and saves it from break out in the summer time. I used the Beauty Flash Balm some time ago and I completely forgot about how much I liked it. This winter my skin was feeling a bit sad and pale and I remembered maybe I should start using the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm to give it some life.

CLARINS BEAUTY FLASH BALM

The balm comes in a lovely tube that is easy to use and quite handy if you have to travel as well. The balm itself has a slight orange tint to it. I usually use it as a serum underneath my daily moisturizer. I also like to use it as a primer on occasion but this winter I used it as a serum because my skin needed some life knocked back into it.

I take a pea size amount and massage into my skin and once it has absorbed I apply the moisturizer. It takes about a minute to get absorbed into the skin so you don't have to wait too long. I do this because I noticed that it can tend to flake if I put my moisturizer immediately after so to avoid this I let the balm get absorbed fully. Once my skincare routine is complete my skin is so much softer and feels much smoother. Once I stared using this daily , within a few weeks my skin felt alive, I felt it looked brighter and more awake. the dullness had disappeared and I was very happy with how my skin was looking, full of life and glowing. The winter breeze couldn't get my skin down this time, yeah. As I mentioned before I like to use it as a primer too, so whenever I wear a foundation I use this as my initial base, this way my foundation looks softer and kind of has a glowing finish to it. The beauty flash balm is a lovely base that the foundation glides easily and it doesn't flake.

I like using it the most as a serum, my skin benefited the most this way. it was brighter and had a glow to it and in the dull winter this was more than welcome. I continue to use this even though the weather has warmed up because I feel like it helps to keep my skins bright glowing effect.

However way you like to use, I think the Beauty Flash Balm is something we should all have in our skincare cabinet, you never know when you might need it. I definitely recommend this if your on the look out for a brighter glowing complexion.

Have you ever used the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm? What did you think? Let me know in the comment box below.

NOTD | REVLON SECLUDED BEACH

I am back with another nude nail polish but this time a more pinkish nude. I have really been enjoying nude nail polishes this month, they are perfect for the start of the summer so you can slowly transition from dark nail polishes. Today I have Secluded Beach by Revlon which is another favourite of mine. I bought mine from Sasa for HK$29 and most of the time they are on offer.

This shade is so complimentary to my skin tone, I love it and Revlon is one of my favourite brands at the moment for nail polishes.  Some times nude nail polishes can be a bit too harsh or even too light for my skin tone but this one on the other hand is quite perfect. I had completely forgotten that I had this shade until I was looking for a few spring time shades and found this in my stash and I am glad I did.

The application is pretty easy and the brush is easy to use and maneuver around the nail. I applied two coats which I think is more than enough for the true colour to shine through. Most of the Revlon nail polishes that I have tried like this one has a glossy finish which is gr in case you ever run out of your top coat. Its the usual wear time for me which is usually 2-3 days with slight chipping. The nail polish does dry up pretty fast and there is no waiting around forever for them  up.

What do you think of my NOTD this week? Have you ever tried a pinkish nude nail polish? Did you like it? let me know what you think in the comment box below.

MAKEUP FOREVER ARTIST SHADOWS 1 PALETTE

This was a first for me in trying out eye shadows from Makeup Forever, I had never actually be able to get my hands on this brand because I was not living in country that had a Sephora or a Makeup Forever store. However when I went to Singapore I popped into the Sephora and well I did loose control and one brand that I really wanted to try was Makeup Forever and I was able to. I decided to get their famous HD Full Coverage Concealer and the Artist Shadows 1 Palette.

I have to say that the packaging was what caught my eye initially and once I tested out the shadows, I was convinced and knew that I needed to have this palette. There was a colourful palette with very bright and fun colours and then there was this one, more neutral colours. As I am a bit boring and not so daring I decided to go for the neutral more earthy toned colored palette.

As you can see from the swatches, the eye shadows do get swatches very well and is absolutely well pigmented. Most of the eye shadows are shimmer based and there is only one that is matte which is the black eye shadow. The eye shadows are super soft and very smooth and once you start applying them they blend very well and are actually true to it colours like in the swatches. I didn't need a base or primer to make the eye shadows pop, they already pop on their own so that was another plus. I on the other hand always wear an eye primer because my eyelids are naturally very oily so I need a base that will make it matte and therefore make the eye shadows last so much longer on my eyelids. The eye shadows did have a bit of fall out so watch out for that, specially the darker shades. Since there is a lovely mix of colours whether you like a smokey eye or a more neutral eye, you will be able to create a beautiful look.

I mean I can go on and on but the basic is that they are lovely eye shadows that is well pigmented and will show up on any skin tone. The wear time was usual nothing extra ordinary, they lasted well with a primer which was around 5-6 hours. There was hardly any creasing and fading which was the most impressive for me because normally no matter what my eyelids will always make sure that the shadows (no matter the brand) do crease ever so slightly.

Overall a lovely palette with gorgeous shades that blend like butter creating a lovely eye makeup. I have added this to my MUA kit as well and use it on my clients as well because it definitely is worth every penny. Have you ever tried any Makeup Forever eye shadows? Don't you think they are just lovely? Let me know what you think in the comment box below.
